The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an 18-year-old Campbellsport man apparently shot and killed himself after Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies pursued his vehicle. According to a press release the man had been posting suicidal statements on social media and texting acquaintances for several hours prior to the incident. Police responded to check his welfare and located him driving on Town Hall Road in the town of Auburn. The man continued driving at about 30 miles an hour for about half a mile with two deputies following behind. Deputies say the man turned around at the intersection of County Highway SSS and North River Road, drove off the road and struck a tree and shot himself in the vehicle.
