MILWAUKEE (AP) — A new poll shows a close race shaping up in the U.S. Senate rematch between Ron Johnson and Russ Feingold.  The data from Marquette University released Wednesday indicates Feingold has support from 47 percent of registered voters, a slight edge over the incumbent Johnson, at 42 percent. The unemployment rate is up locally in the latest reporting period.  Both the city of Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac County’s unemployment rate increased three-tenths of a percent to 4.9 percent in February.  The February jobless rate in Dodge County stands at 5.4 percent…up from 5.1 percent in January.

The wife of presidential candidate Ted Cruz is coming to Fond du lac along with a former presidential candidate.  Heidi Cruz and former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina are scheduled to appear at Cruz Victory Headquarters in Fond du lac at  5pm Wednesday.  The Cruz headquarters are located at 17 Forest Avenue.  The Fond du Lac County Republican Party Lincoln Day Brunch will be held at 11am this Sunday at Whispering Springs Golf Club.

APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — Bernie Sanders criticized voter identification laws at a town hall in Wisconsin, a week before the state's presidential primary in which the new requirement will apply. Almost 4,000 Sanders supporters packed the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton for the event. Sanders says governors like Scott Walker have been making it harder for people to participate in the political process.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) — Donald Trump is suggesting that next week's Wisconsin primary could be the last stand for his Republican rivals. Trump said during a rally Tuesday in Janesville that "if we win Wisconsin, it's pretty much over." The celebrity businessman has a significant lead in delegates over Ted Cruz and John Kasich but is not yet on pace to clinch the GOP nomination.
