The city of Fond du Lac and Fond du lac Fire Department get an A when it comes to fire protection efforts. Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says the city has been awarded a Class One rating for fire protection from the Insurance Services Office. O’Leary says Fond du Lac is one of only two cities in the state and 180 cities out of approximately 48,000 in the country to receive the top rating . O’Leary says commercial and residential insurance underwriters who look for ISO guidance when determining fire risk will be able to offer the best rates possible. O’Leary says a lot of factors are considered when developing a rating. ‘They want to look at our ability to fight fire, do we have the personnel? They look at our physical assets, location of fire stations, capacity,” O’Leary said. “…number of fire engines, ladder trucks, how many people we deply.”
