Former Fond du Lac City manager Tom Herre has been appointed Interim President and CEO of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce. The Association Board of directors announced the appointment Friday. Herre’s appointment is effective May 2nd. Herre will serve in this capacity until a permanent hire is made. That process is expected to be completed by the end of July. Herre is a Fond du Lac native and served as Fond du Lac city manager from August 2005 to June 2012. Longtime Fond du lac Area Association of Commerce president Joe Reitemeier, announced last month he was stepping down for personal reasons after 30 years at the helm. Herre has served on the board of directors of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation, Fond du Lac Convention and Visitors Bureau and the United Way. Currently, he is the president of the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts board and a member of the boards of the Fond du Lac Area Foundation, and St. Mary’s Springs Academy. “We are pleased and grateful that Tom has agreed to serve in this important role while the AC transitions to new leadership,” said Tom Schneider, Association of Commerce Board Chair. “His experience and passion for moving the Fond du Lac area forward make him uniquely qualified for this position.”
