4-18-16 state representative mark born announces reelection bid

BEAVER DAM – Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) announced today that he will seek reelection to the Wisconsin State Assembly, and issued the following statement:  
“It has been an honor to represent our communities in the State Assembly,” Born stated, “I look forward to spending the next few months with voters discussing the accomplishments of the past session and getting their input on the work yet to be done. I appreciate the trust the voters placed in me with their strong support in my first two elections.  I respectfully ask for their vote again as we continue to move Wisconsin forward.”    Born said, “I am proud of our accomplishments this session, as we invested in our future financially and made necessary government reforms that help move our state forward.  We have also focused on assisting our communities and families by helping them deal with significant challenges like drug addiction and dementia.”   Born was the lead author on four bills that were signed into law this session.  One of these bills placed restrictions on the placement of supervised release Chapter 980 violent sex offenders in order to better protect the public.  Born also authored reforms with the Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association to improve their operations for constituents, improved tax exemptions for nonprofit organizations, and clarified ambiguities in the Wisconsin Consumer Act.  Born serves on the Public Benefit Reform, Criminal Justice, Natural Resources and Sporting Heritage, Tourism, Insurance, Financial Institutions, and State Capitol and Executive Residence Committees.  Born is also a member of the State Building Commission.   Born is serving his second term in the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the 39th District.  A lifelong resident of the district, Born resides in Beaver Dam with his wife,  Liberty, and their daughter.
