Wisconsin is moving into a dry weather pattern resulting in a widespread elevated fire danger, hovering around high to very high in much of the state. In Fond du Lac firefighters responded to several grass fires along the railroad tracks near Highway 41 and Hickory Street on Saturday. The Wisconsin DNR will continue to suspend burning permits for debris burning on days when fire danger is elevated and ask the public to be especially careful with activities that could potentially lead to a wildfire, such as campfires, grills, smoking, chain saws, off-road vehicles or other small engines have the potential to ignite a dangerous and destructive fire.
