MADISON, Wis. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson’s campaign finished the first quarter of the year with about a million dollars less in the bank than opponent Russ Feingold. Johnson’s campaign spokesman, Brian Reisinger, says Johnson finished the quarter with $5.5 million on hand. A Johnson campaign memo says he raised more than $2.1 million during the span. Feingold’s campaign says he finished the quarter with $6.4 million on hand after raising nearly $3.4 million during the quarter. Feingold, a Democrat, is looking to unseat Johnson in November. Feingold served 18 years in the Senate before Johnson, a Republican, defeated him in 2010. The contest is critical to Democrats’ hopes of recapturing majority control of the Senate.
