5-24-16 wisconsin loon population increases

ASHLAND, Wis. (AP) — A volunteer survey of loons in Wisconsin shows the population is strong. The Wisconsin Loon Population Survey estimates the number of loons at 4,350, an increase of about 9 percent from 2010. The chick population is estimated at 834, an increase of nearly 38 percent. More than 200 volunteers collected data in July 2015, surveying 204 lakes in 27 northern Wisconsin counties.

5-24-16 victim in fatal dirt bike vs. pickup accident identified

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the boy who was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck in Dodge County.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the victim has been identified as 12 year old Maxwell Behmke of rural Neosho.  The crash happened at around 4pm Friday on Highway NN near North Tyler Road in Rubicon. 5-24-16 marian university veteran of the month

Richard “Dick” Rupp has been selected as Marian University’s Veteran of the Month.  Rupp served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, where he served as a crew chief. (AP) — A federal judge is set to hear evidence this week in a trial to decide whether legislative district boundaries that Republicans drew in 2012 are constitutional.  Twelve voters who support Democrats filed a lawsuit last summer alleging the state Assembly district boundaries are unfairly designed to help GOP candidates hold legislative seats. The Waupun School Board will learn how the public feels about a major building referendum at their meeting Monday night.  The board will review results of a district survey.  Superintendent Tanya Gubin says the survey is designed to ensure a referendum reflects the  wants  and needs of the District and its residents. The School Board meets  at 6PM Monday night at the Rock River Intermediate auditorium.
