1-17-17 if you don’t have to travel…don’t

Local law enforcement is advising no unnecessary travel with icy road conditions making for treacherous travel in parts of Wisconsin.  Close to 20 vehicle run offs have been reported in Fond du Lac County and several crashes in Dodge County prompting the Sheriff’s Office to close Highway 26 south of Highway 151.  “There wasn’t a lot of traffic on the roads overnight and the cars that were on the road ended up in the ditch,”  a sheriff’s lieutenant told WFDL news.  Fond du lac City and county crews have been salting area roads continuously since late Monday afternoon.   Many schools are closed for a second day in a row or are starting two hours late.  Most events that were scheduled for Monday night were cancelled.  The Fond du Lac Public Library closed early.   A number of businesses also closed early.    Fire chief Pete O’Leary tells WFDL news there were ambulance calls Monday afternoon for a couple of people who fell in icy parking lots and hit their heads.
