MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin state Superintendent Tony Evers has a huge financial advantage over his opponents in his re-election bid. Evers reported Tuesday that he had $117,000 cash on hand at the end of December. That’s nearly seven times as much as challenger John Humphries and 53-times as much as opponent Lowell Holtz. Humphries reports having nearly $17,000 on hand while Holtz has just $2,200. Evers raised more than $80,000 last year in advance of the April 4 election for state superintendent. He is seeking a third term. Humphries is a consultant for the Dodgeville school district. He raised just over $31,000. Holtz is a former Beloit superintendent who raised about $5,000 last year. Racine high school math teacher Rick Melcher is running as a write-in candidate but had not filed a report.
