A Liberty University student from Fond du Lac County is in the nation’s capitol for president-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Eldorado native Dan Degner is one of 14 Liberty students chosen to witness the historic moment and participate in inaugural festivities. Degner says he actually supported Republican candidate Marco Rubio in the Virginia primary election and acknowledges he didn’t always agree with some of the things Trump said or did during the campaign. “There were things that he did say that I don’t agree with and I think its important to disagree on those,” Degner told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. “But at the same time overall I chose the candidate that best matched my beliefs.” Degner says he is hopeful that Trump can help the nation’s economy and also says he wanted to vote for a strong pro-life candidate. The students will attend the swearing in ceremony and inaugural parade. He’s hoping to be able to stay for the Faith, Freedom and Future Ball Friday night.
