The Department of Public Works would like to inform the public of the replacement of the Fountain Island Bow Bridge which is located between Fountain Island and Promen Drive. The existing bridge will be removed starting Tuesday, February 21st. The bow components of the old bridge will be repaired, painted and set up alongside the pedestrian trail on the east end of Lakeside Park. The new bridge is expected to be fabricated during the next two months and will be complete and open by the end of May. In the meantime, Fountain Island may be accessed from Main Street using the covered bridge at the south side of Fountain Island or from Oven Island using the pedestrian bridge on the southeast side of Fountain Island.
