3-10-17 puppy with harness embedded in skin has recovered

The Fond du Lac Animal Shelter manager says a puppy that was severely injured when its harness became embedded in its skin has recovered.    Three Fond du Lac residents are accused of abusing the Pit Bull mix and faces charges in Fond du Lac County circuit court.  Fond du Lac Animal Shelter Manager Renee Webb says the dog is living with a new owner.  “The animal is living with someone else at this point and the injuries were pretty extensive,”  Webb told WFDL news.  Webb says the dog received a lot of care and is doing really well.  According to a criminal complaint a veterinarian says the harness must have been placed on the dog when he was a puppy and the dog’s growth made the harness embedded.  Webb says unfortunately she has seen other pet dogs at the shelter with similar circumstances.  “Probably the worst one that we saw was a choke chain that was put on when he was a puppy and the dog grew to the point where the skin around his neck literally grew completely around the metal.”
