The first Family Care provider in the state is working to match their members’ skills and abilities to employers’ workforce needs.  Lakeland Care hosted a Flipped-Job Fair in Fond du lac this week…employers were invited to come in and talk with and interview individuals instead of the other way around.  Sixteen years ago Lakeland Care piloted Family Care, which helps adults with disabilities live independently at home and in their community.  Ann Sievert is with the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities.  “Data shows that the turnover rate for people with disabilities and jobs is much less.  They’re super motivated.  They bring a lot to the office, great attitude.  Its a win-win,” Sievert told WFDL news.    Christine Gallitz is looking for a job.  “I can try things and learn different stuff.   I like to learn anything and give it a try,”  Gallitz said.  Jeremy Wienke says he’s a hard worker.  “I like working and like to keep my hands busy, Wienke said.  “I  like to mop floors, clean bathrooms, and wash windows.”  Wienke says he has previous work experience at Mancino’s restaurant and T.J. Maxx. Megan Acheson is the employment services coordinator at Lakeland Care.  Acheson says Lakeland Care clients are very dependable and want to work.  She says employers just need to give them a chance.  “We also work with local service providers that can help individuals with the task at hand when they are first learning the task.”
