National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is May 21-27, 2017. This year’s theme is “Always in Service” and is a testament to EMS providers across the nation that have the passion, purpose, and heart to wear the uniform. This is a time to celebrate providers and the work they do in their communities 24/7/365. Fond du Lac Fire Rescue (FDLFR) first began its pre-hospital care with Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) level in 1974 and advance to paramedic level care in 1984. “The level of care that our firefighter/paramedics provide to our community is second to none”, said fire chief Peter O’Leary. “Each day our crews respond to a variety of medical emergencies and work to bring positive outcomes to their patients.” FDLFR takes additional steps each year to open its doors and welcome the community. This year’s annual Open House and have reached out to several outside agencies to assist with providing education to all age groups. This education includes new tools/services our EMS providers, partnerships with other health agencies in the community, and fun hands-on activities. Light refreshments will be provided.
