The Fond du Lac city council has rejected a request to rezone residential property to allow a used truck dealership to expand a parking lot. At their meeting Wednesday night the council voted 5-1 against the request by Lenz Truck after several residents of an adjacent condominium complex voiced their concerns. There was nobody from Lenz Truck who spoke at the meeting. Councilmember Brian Kolstad said the rezoning would have gone against the city’s long range plan for the neighborhood. “That’s kind of our promise to the community that this was going to be residential. You can develop here assuming these parcels are going to stay residential,” Kolstad said. Lenz Truck wanted the land rezoned so it could build a 300 plus stall parking lot. Kolstad says he’s convinced the neighbors would have been significantly negatively impacted.
