Traffic volume on Interstate 41 may be higher than usual this Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the state DOT is advising motorists who would normally take I-43 north or south to use I-41 instead because of construction work in Manitowoc and Brown counties. “The good news is we don’t have any big construction projects underway. That being said, DOT is recommending drivers use Fond du lac County and the I-41 corridor because over in Manitowoc and up in Brown County I-43 is down to one lane,” Waldschmidt told WFDL news. Waldschmidt says area law enforcement is stepping up patrol for the holiday weekend. The Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists to buckle up, don’t follow too closely, avoid distractions in the vehicle, and don’t drink and drive.
