The president of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce Board says a new combined organization should be up and running in a couple of months. The boards representing the Association and Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation approved the merger last week. The Association of Commerce membership is expected to approve the proposed affiliation at a special meeting next Wednesday. Association board president Tom Schneider says there are three finalists in the running for president of the new organization. Schneider says the new organization, Envision Greater Fond du Lac, is expected to be up and running as soon as a new president is hired, hopefully by July first. “We’ve already started the process. The staffs of both Economic Development and AC have already worked together, and we’re collaborating on projects,” Schneider told WFDL news. “Officially we’re looking at July 1st for the plan of affiliation for the new organization and hopefully soon after that the new president takes over.” Schneider says the goal is to make the greater Fond du Lac region more attractive and competitive in attracting businesses. He says the organization will help reduce donor and volunteer fatigue and respond to be more efficient with resources.
