Motorists will be heading out today for the start of an extened Independence Day holiday and AAA is predicting travelers will set at new record this holiday weekend. State AAA spokesman, Nick Jarmuscz says a record-breaking 44.2 million Americans will travel during the 4th of July holiday, including nearly 953,000 from Wisconsin…an increase of more than three percent from last year. Jarmuscz says increased consumer confidence, low gas prices and the fact that the holiday falls on a Tuesday also makes a difference. Jarmuscz says the projections follow a trend of increased travel during the major holidays over the last couple of years.
