The presidential commission looking for voter data from all the states says the panel wants only data that’s publicly available. President Donald Trump’s Advisory Commission on Election Integrity sent a letter to the states on Wednesday giving them two weeks to provide about a dozen points of voter data, including birthdates, Social Security numbers and any information about felony convictions. The Wisconsin Elections Commission says most of the information in the state’s voter registration system is public and available for a fee. The commission would charge the panel the maximum $12,500 allowed under agency rules. Other information such as voter birthdates and Social Security numbers is private. Vice President Mike Pence leads the presidential commission. Asked about Wisconsin officials’ stance, Pence spokesman Marc Lotter said the commission is seeking only information that’s public under state law.
