Kimberly Pickart says says she believes God put her in the right place at the right time to help a teenage girl involved in a head on collision in Fond du Lac. Pickart was driving home to Waupun early Saturday morning on Highway 151 near Oakfield when she came upon the crash scene. “I noticed very large tire shreds in the middle of the road. At first I thought it was maybe from a semi truck,” Pickart told WFDL news. Pickart was the first person on the scene, moments after a wrong way driver slammed into a southbound vehicle on 151 driven by 18 year old Olivia Schafer. “I began to call 911 telling them what happened. Halfway through my phone call a victim emerged out of the darkness, which turned out to be Olivia, walking and talking and completely drenched with blood,” Pickart said. “I couldn’t really believe what I was seeing, it was like a ghost came out of the darkness.” Pickart said the girl came up to her and asked if she could help her. “I said oh my gosh, of course.” Schafer was driving home from work when her car collided head on with a drunk driver . Pickart says she sat by Olivia and waited until rescue personnel arrived. “She just kept apologizing. She said tell my parents I’m sorry and I’m thinking oh sweety your parents are going to be so happy just to see you and know you’re alive.” Pickart was the person who called Olivia’s parents to tell them what had happened. “I do believe that God put me in the right place at the right time to be able to help her,” Pickart said. “I have no other explanation for why I would have come across her at that time of night.”
