A former Fond du Lac resident and her children escaped their flooding home near Houston with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Eva Graczyk says the flood waters started to enter her home early Sunday morning and within a few hours it was chest high. That’s when Graczyk and her five adopted children filled backpacks with dry clothes and food supplies, grabbed their pet dog and set out on foot for higher ground. Graczyk says she was able stay at the home of a fellow church member and is currently looking for a hotel. Ironically Graczyk is the director of the Houston Coalition of the Homeless.
