9-30-17 fdl doctor, daughter’s death ruled murder-suicide

The deaths of a Fond du Lac doctor and his daughter  is being ruled a murder suicide.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says autopsy results show that 62 year old Doctor Mark Whitmore strangled his 27 year old daughter Julia and then killed himself with a knife.  Their bodies were found at their Golf Course Drive home Friday morning.  Waldschmidt says Julia Whitmore was wheelchair bound and […]

A welcome home ceremony is being held Monday for a Fond du Lac firefighter who is returning after his third tour of duty in the middle east.  Fond du Lac Fire Lieutenant, Shawn Kneeland.  Kneeland is a master sergeant in the Wisconsin Air National Guard.  Kneeland spent the last six months overseas.  He was previously deployed to Iraq in 2004 where he served as a firefighter on a heavy rescue […]

9-30-17 light up the night against domestic violence

This year’s annual Light Up the Night: Domestic Abuse Awareness Event will be held next week.  The event is scheduled for  6 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the Essential Rock Church in Fond du Lac.   Light Up the Night is held as part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Agnesian Domestic Violence Services supervisor Tiffany Wiese says the event brings awareness to the typically hidden issue of domestic violence.

9-30-17 retired welder from oshkosh claims megabucks jackpot

A retired welder from Oshkosh has claimed his $2.5 million Megabucks prize.  Heinz Habermehl  is the winner of  the September 20 Megabucks drawing.   Habermehl  purchased his winning ticket at Kwik Trip in Oshkosh.    He says he plans to use his winnings to help his kids, and build up a nest egg .

9-29-17 father-daughter found dead in town of empire home

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s  Office  has released the names of two people found dead at their town of  Empire home Friday.   Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the victims have been identified as 62 year old Dr. Mark Whitmore and his 27 year old daughter Julia Whitmore.  Dr. Whitmore was an internal medicine physician with Agnesian HealthCare.  Agnesian spokesperson Shelly Haberman says Dr. Whitmore began practicing in Fond du […]
