Two dozen Wisconsin lawmakers have sent a letter to the Wisconsin congressional delegation urging them to support J-1 students. Republican state representative Joan Ballweg of Markesan says ‘the letter urges support for the summer work and travel program and resist any changes that could result from president Trump’s “Buy American and Hire American” executive order. Ballweg says cities like Wisconsin Dells depend on J-1 students to fill the high workforce demands of their tourist season. Ballweg says at a time when Wisconsin has more jobs than available workers, we should be talking about strengthening the workforce not cutting it.
