MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Legislature has invited Gov. Scott Walker to give his annual State of the State speech on Jan. 24. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about dangerous ice conditions on Lake Winnebago after an ATV broke through thin ice over the Christmas holiday.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s  Sergeant Paul Rottscholl says 20 year old Christopher Porter of Fond du Lac escaped injury when his ATV went through the ice on the lake near Supple’s Marsh.  The incident happened shortly after 10pm Christmas Eve.

An Appleton man has been charged in connection with a high speed chase in a stolen car in Fond du Lac, Dodge and Washington counties.  Twenty five year old Adam Piotrowski made his initial court appearance in Washington County on charges of recklessly endangering safety, fleeing and resisting and officer and bail jumping.  Bail was set at $35,000 cash.  Shortly before 1am Christmas morning a Fond du lac County Sheriff’s […]

Five candidates plan to run for four seats on the Fond du Lac  city council.  Incumbent council president Karen Merkel,  and incumbents Kay Miller and Derek Terbeest are running for re-election.  Incumbent LeeAnn Lorrigan cannot run because of term limits.  Challengers Ben Giles and Donna Richards have taken out nomination papers.  Giles is the son of councilmember Greg Giles.  The filing deadline is next Tuesday.

Two incumbents are running unopposed  for re-election to the Fond du lac School Board.  Linda Uselmann and Susan Jones are running for a three year term.  Jones is running for her eighth term while Uselmann is running for her second term.  No challengers have taken out nomination papers.

Only one person has indicated plans to run for one of  two open seats  on the Waupun School Board.  Incumbent Ron Paul has filed a declaration of candidacy to run for re-election to the seat representing the city of Fox Lake and towns of Fox Lake and Westford.  Incumbent Kathy Schlieve is not running for re-election for an at-large seat on the board.   At this point nobody has indicated plans […]

The Waupun mayor and three alderman are up for re-election in April.  Mayor Julie Nickel and aldermen Pete Kaczmarski, Mike Matoushek Jr. and Nancy Vanderkin are all running for re-election.   Nobody else has taken out papers to run.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Conservationists in Wisconsin say they've spotted a record number of nests from the endangered Kirtland's warbler this year, a decade after the songbird was first spotted in the state.  Fifteen nests have been found so far in Wisconsin.
