The executive director of the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership says residents may be surprised to know how many new businesses have opened their doors this year in downtown. Amy Hansen says 10 new businesses are in the running for Best New Business of the year in downtown Fond du Lac. Residents can also vote for the Legacy Award, recognizing businesses who have been in the downtown for at least 50 years. Hansen says U.S. Bank is the oldest downtown business. The bank has been located in downtown, under different names over the years, since 1855. Nominations can be made online at downtownfdl.com through January 8.
