12-19-17 wisconsin special elections

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Primaries will narrow the field of candidates running in three open legislative seats across Wisconsin.  The most closely watched vote Tuesday comes in the Republican primary in western Wisconsin’s 10th Senate district. In that race, two Republican state representatives are facing each other hoping to replace Sen. Sheila Harsdorf, a Republican from River Falls.  The winner of Tuesday’s Republican primary between Reps. Adam Jarchow, of Balsam Lake, and Shannon Zimmerman, of River Falls, will advance to the Jan. 16 general election. Three Democrats are also running.  There is a Republican primary in the conservative 58th Assembly District outside of Milwaukee and a Democratic primary in the 66th Assembly District in Racine.  The general election in both of those races is also Jan. 16.  Outcomes of the races cannot change Republican majority control of the Senate and Assembly.
