1-15-18 birth mother and daughter reunited after more than 30 years

Kristin Ramey has known almost her entire life that she was adopted.  Ramey was born in Fond du Lac in 1984 and was adopted through  Catholic Charities.   In 2011 Kristin began to search for her birth mom , but with no luck.  It was a closed adoption, and the father did not want any information released,  so Ramey was not able to get any information about her birth parents from the state.   Then earlier  this year  she re-started the search.   Ramey learned her mother graduated from Saint Mary’s Springs High School in 1983 and contacted the alumni website administrator Terry Holzmann asking if he knew of anyone who may have given up a child for adoption.   Holzmann learned that Julie Guelig  had a baby in 1984 and placed it for adoption.  He called the now married Julie Kramer telling  her about his Facebook conversation with Ramey.  Kramer  was stunned to hear the news…that after more than three decades her  daughter wanted to meet her.  Birth mother and daughter met face to face  for the first time last February.  Ramey says her mom and dad always told her  that  it was  only a matter of when you find your biological parents, not if.   “She was young, she wanted to give me the best life possible,”  Ramey told AM 1170s Between the Lines program.   Kramer says when she saw Ramey for the first time since she was born the very first words out of her daughter’s mouth were “Thank you for giving me a wonderful life.”   Today Kristin and Julie are beginning a brand new chapter in their lives.
