In an announcement that doesn’t come as a surprise, Bon-Ton Stores is closing 42 stores including nine in Wisconsin including Younkers in the Fond du Lac Forest Mall. The struggling retailer announced previously it intended to shut down stores this year as part of a turnaround plan for the company. Bon-Ton has lost money for six consecutive years and recently missed a debt payment. In addition to Fond du Lac, Younkers in the Fox River Mall in Appleton, and the Boston Store in Beaver Dam are closing. The company also plans to close stores in 13 other states.
