Icy roads are to blame for a multiple vehicle crash in Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac County.   Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the three vehicle crash  shortly after 6pm Sunday shut down the right lane on 41 near County Highway B.  "Deputies responding to the scene reported the highway had iced over.  So that's likely a factor in that crash,"  Waldschmidt told WFDL news.  Waldschmidt says says nobody was […]

Nobody was injured in a car fire in Fond du Lac County  Sunday afternoon.  Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputies and a state patrol trooper responded and quickly  extinguished the fire on I-41 near CTH 000 in the town of Fond du Lac.   The five occupants of the vehicle from the Appleton area were uninjured.   The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  The Van Dyne Fire Department assisted at […]

11-29-18 statewide blood shortage at critical level

The Red Cross says a statewide blood shortage is getting worse.  Laura McGuire with the American Red Cross Wisconsin chapter says in the last week the winter blood shortage has reached a critical level.  "What that means is that blood and platelets are being distributed to hospitals faster than they are coming in the door,"  McGuire told WFDL news.  McGuire says more than 550 blood drives were forced to cancel […]

The Fond du Lac County Treasurer’s Office reminds property owners that  the first installment of the 2017 property taxes is due by Jan 31.   Property owners are encouraged to pay early to avoid delays.  Payments for real estate property located in the City of Fond du Lac and the  Village of North Fond du Lac must be made payable to Fond du Lac County.  Payments may be made by mail […]

1-29-18 fdl police investigate shooting incident

Nobody was injured and Fond du Lac police are continuing to investigate a shooting incident.   Shortly  after 11:30pm Friday police received reports of  gunshots fired in the area of 5th Street between South Main and Marr Streets.   Investigators  say several rounds were fired from a gun but there were no injuries reported.

1-29-18 farm bankruptcies

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Federal court data show that a Wisconsin district had the highest amount of farm bankruptcies in the country last year. Wisconsin Public Radio reports that the Western District of Wisconsin had 28 farm bankruptcy cases in 2017. The district is made up of 44 counties and includes more than half of the state's geographic area. There are 94 federal court districts in the U.S.

1-27-18 former knitting mills fire in marinette destroyed by fire

MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) — The former Knitting Mills building in Marinette has been destroyed by fire. A worker in the building now used for cold storage tried to put out the fire as it began Thursday, but then called for help. An excavator was brought in once the roof collapsed to help get at the fire underneath. Officials say the building is a total loss.
