The Fond du Lac County Clerk says a special election to fill two vacant legislative seats could have easily been held in conjunction with last week’s spring election at no extra cost to taxpayers. Lisa Freiberg says the governor could have called for the elections after he appointed the two incumbent Republican lawmakers to posts in his administration. Freiberg says the 42nd assembly district includes a portion of western Fond du lac County. “That includes the towns of Alto and Metomen, the village of Brandon, and village of Fairwater.” Primaries for the open seats are scheduled for May 15, followed by a general election June 12.
