Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson isn’t directly responding to comments by former FBI director James Comey that Donald Trump is morally unfit to be president. Comey said in an ABC news interview that Trump is morally unfit and lies constantly about matters big and small. “I’ve never seen an administration, president, under the kind of assault that this one has been under since day one,” Johnson said. “…with a resistance movement, almost a concerted effort to sabotage this administration from day one. Its very unfortunate.” Senator Johnson says Comey has a lot of questions to answer regarding his handling of the Hilary Clinton personal email investigation and why no charges were filed. Meanwhile, Johnson says he doesn’t believe it would accomplish anything to fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein or Special Counsel Robert Mueller. But Johnson says he thinks the special prosecutor was appointed too soon. “I would have rather had the process play out in terms of the congressional committees obtaining all the information they needed to complete their investigation and issue their report. Then based on their investigation we could have decided whether it should have been referred to prosecution from the Justice Department or Special Counsel.” Johnson made the comments on AM 1170s Between the Lines program.
