Area law enforcement is breathing a sigh of relief the weekend snow and ice storm occurred when it did but another round of snow is in the forecast. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says between Friday and Monday morning deputies responded to seven disabled vehicles, 26 crashes with property damage, seven crashes with minor injuries, and 50 vehicle run-offs. In addition there were 11 calls for trees and or power lines down. As bad as it was in Fond du lac, Waldschmidt says it was much worse to the north. “Its an historic snowstorm. I think we skated down here in the sense that maybe just an hour north of us, they had three times as much snow as we got.” A winter weather advisory is in effect for all of southeast Wisconsin including Fond du Lac, Dodge and Sheboygan counties from 10am Wednesday through 7am Thursday with 2-5 inches of snow in the forecast.
