St. Mary Springs captured their 16th overall state championship on Thursday afternoon with a 20-17 win over Stratford. This is Springs 8th Gold Ball in the WIAA. That’s the most in State History of any school. (Kimberly can get 8 Friday afternoon with a win) The Ledgers were down 14-0 in the 1st half and 14-7 at half. Springs finally took the lead with 2:18 left to play in the game. They held on for the win! It was the Ledgers 2nd consecutive trip to state and 1st time Springs has played in Division 5 since 2009. They finish the year 14-0. The 12th time SMS has finished a football season undefeated.
Mitch Waechter completed 6-12 for 71 yards and 1 TD
Marcus Orlandoni led the rushing attack with 12 carries for 124 yards and 2 TDs
