MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin legislators are bringing back a bill that would impose a new fine on anyone convicted of soliciting prostitutes.  The bill would impose a $5,000 fine on anyone convicted of patronizing, pandering or soliciting prostitutes or keeping a place of prostitution.  The money would cover treatment and services for sex-trafficking victims as well as investigations of internet crimes against children.  Republican state Sens. (AP) — Wisconsin tax collections are projected to be down about $282 million from a previous estimate , while the state will still collect about $2.4 billion more in taxes through the middle of 2021.  The new estimates from the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau will be used by Gov. 1-31-19 fdl recycling collection delayed

Due to the extremely cold weather conditions, Waste Management has notified the City of Fond du Lac, they will not be open Thursday.    Thursday’s Recycling Routes will not be collected and will be delayed one day.  Waste Management will try their best to collect both Thursday and Friday Routes on Friday, but may have to finish collection on Saturday.  Garbage Collection will go on as scheduled this week.

1-30-19 merc fire quickly extinguished

(photo: fdl fire and rescue)  Nobody was injured in a fire at Mercury Marine in Fond du lac.  Around 3pm Wednesday  firefighters were called to a report of a fire in a heating  unit on a roof at Plant 15.  Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says  when firefighters arrived smoke and flames were visible.  Haase says the fire was mostly contained to the unit and was quickly extinguished.
