1-31-19 fdl county emergency management-cold snap

The Fond du lac County Emergency Management Department is reminding residents to stay safe during this dangerous cold snap.   Emergency management director Bobbie Hicken says Brandon residents were without power for about an hour early Wednesday morning due to the extreme cold.    Hicken says the Brandon Fire Department opened its fire department to the public as a precaution,  using a generator to heat the department, although no one from the public needed the shelter.  Hicken says there was also a smaller power outage reported in Eden.  Hicken says Alliant Energy is monitoring the situation.  Meanwhile, Hicken says residents are encouraged to stay inside and not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary.  Hicken says make sure your home has a working carbon monoxide detector.
