3-7-19 dairy business association backs drivers licenses for undocumented residents

The Dairy Business Association is backing governor Tony Evers’ proposal to create a driver’s license for undocumented residents.  Association spokesman John Holevoet says the Association  believes that people, regardless of immigration status, should be allowed to drive legally in Wisconsin if they are properly trained and insured.    “The reality is,  before,  we had a federal law REAL ID.  Some of these folks who might get a license if this moves forward, had a license back then.  Its not like we’re doing something that’s never been done before,”  Holevoet told WFDL news.    Holevoet says the Association has been pushing for this measure for the past  decade.  Governor Evers says the proposal would make roads safer and help the state’s economy.
