Republican congressman Glenn Grothman predicts congress will pass a budget even larger than the record $4.75 trillion budget proposed by president Trump. Trump’s budget plan calls for increased military spending and sharp cuts to domestic programs. Grothman says he thinks there should be cuts in military and domestic programs. “Compared to the last budget I think a good goal would be to cut both defense and non defense two percent,” Grothman told WFDL news. “I think you’d still wind up still way higher than you were three years ago and the public would not notice.” On the president’s proposal for nearly $two trillion in cost savings from mandatory safety-net programs like Medicaid and Medicare. “Seventy percent of federal spending is in mandatory programs and I do think means tested programs are the easiest place to say we’re spending too much money.”
