The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office rescued a kayaker in distress on Lake Winnebago Tuesday afternoon. Shortly before 3pm Tuesday the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen on Lakeshore Drive reporting a kayaker who appeared to be in distress after overturning. The kayaker was said to be approximately one mile east of the shoreline and unable to return under his own power. Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Lakeshore Dr. and Cottage Lane where they were able to see the male individual in distress due to the high winds and waves. Van Dyne first responders and the Fond du lac Fire Department used inflatable boats , along with a good Samaritan who used his boat to help rescue the man who was submerged in the water without a life jacket. The kayaker, 40 year old Ben Hull of Fond du Lac, was treated at the scene by NFDL EMS and transported to St. Agnes Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
