The Fond du lac County Sheriff’s Office says the case of a capsized kayaker on Lake Winnebago this week is a reminder of the importance of wearing a life jacket. Sheriff’s captain Jeff Bonack says a Fond du Lac man fell out of his kayak about a mile from shore and wasn’t wearing a life jacket. “That’s one of the things I really want to put out there. Its neat to go on a paddle board or a kayak or a canoe but I don’t think people treat it seriously enough. Its state law that you must have a weareable life jacket on board for each person,” Bonack told WFDL news. Bonack says if a passerby hadn’t spotted the man in the water, the outcome might have been different.
