Fond du lac city officials say they hope to learn soon whether the owner of a near downtown building plans to repair or demolish the building. Macy Street, from Forest Avenue to First Street has been closed for more than two weeks since about a dozen bricks fell off the Macy Mini Mall building. “There’s some structural challenges over there that have sort of revealed themselves and I don’t know if simply taking off the face of the building, the brick, reinstalling new is going to be enough,” City Manager Joe Moore told WFDL news. Moore says the city wants an answer from the owner by the end of next week on whether repairs will be made or if the building will be razed. Moore says due to the height of the building and the nature of the damage, the city inspections office has determined that none of the driving or parking lanes are safe at this time.
