A Fond du Lac man was arrested for hit and run and drunken driving thanks to a citizen who followed the suspect. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says police initially received a report Monday night of a hit and run on West Scott Street near the railroad tracks. A short time later a citizen saw the vehicle strike a tree in the Walmart parking lot and followed the vehicle to the area of Seymour and Arndt Streets where the suspect’s vehicle struck a parked car. Klein says officers found the driver unconscious behind the wheel and says officers had to smash the car window to get him out of the vehicle. Klein says its fortunate that nobody was hurt. He credits the citizen for helping police nab the suspect. “I think its great. It bodes to our community, if you see something, say something,” Klein told WFDL news. “We have over 43,000 sets of eyes and ears in our community that helps us police this community and that’s what it takes. When you see something like that to step up, to call police.”
