Republican congressman Glenn Grothman says he’s not surprised by the findings of the Mueller report released last week. The report did not find collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and said while there was not sufficient evidence to that Trump obstructed justice, it didn’t exhonerate him either. Grothman says among Republican colleagues on capital hill the report was not on the top of their priority list. “I think in Washington, at least the people I hang around with, there never was an anticipation the report would ever show wrongdoing on the part of president Trump,” Grothman told AM 1170s Between the Lines program. “We always kind of considered this a conspiracy thing.” Grothman says given all of the time and money spent so far in the investigation if there was anything to be found it would be found by now. “I think it’s hard to prove a negative. It’s hard to prove he didn’t obstruct. But I think they certainly spent a lot of time and money on this and they haven’t really come up with anything yet, certainly nothing impeachable.” At the same time Grothman says he anticipates Democrats will continue to hold hearings on the report in the months leading up to the election.
