5-31-19 waupun prison inmate charged with attacking correctional officers

A Waupun prison inmate has been charged with attacking a correctional officer this month who attempted to take the designer sunglasses the inmate was wearing.  Twenty seven year old David Byrd faces charges of strangulation and suffocation.  According to a criminal complaint on May 3 Byrd entered the health service unit at the prison after getting into a fight with another inmate and the correctional officer took Byrd’s sunglasses.  Byrd allegedly struck the sunglasses out […]

5-31-19 fdl arndt street bridge replacement

The Fond du Lac Arndt Street Bridge will be closed for several months  starting next week.    Fond du lac Public Works says beginning Monday the existing bridge is being torn down and replaced.  Additional stop signs on Brooke Street will be placed at the intersections of Satterlee Street and Arndt Street to assist with traffic flow.  Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead for traffic delays.  There will not be a detour.

Two assistant principals are leaving the Fond du Lac School District at  the end of the school year.  The Fond du Lac School Board has accepted the resignations of Fond du Lac High School assistant principal, Steven Hernandez and Sabish Middle School assistant principal, Brad Reinke.   Superintendent, Dr. Jim Sebert, says Hernandez is leaving after two years to be closer to his home near  Madison.  Reinke is leaving to accept a teaching position […]

LAONA, Wis. (AP) — A job training center that has served hundreds of disadvantaged youths is closing in northern Wisconsin.  The closure of the Blackwell Job Corps Center in Laona comes as part of a Trump administration plan to cut 1,100 jobs in the Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Centers program. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two liberal candidates for the Wisconsin Supreme Court will speak at the state Democratic convention this weekend.  Jill Karofsky and Ed Fallone are looking to unseat conservative Justice Dan Kelly. Judicial candidates are officially nonpartisan but Republicans back Kelly and Democrats support Karofsky and Fallone. 5-30-19 five kewaskum brothers injured in rollover crash in germantown

Five brothers from Kewaskum were injured following a rollover crash on Interstate 41 in Germantown.  Police say three of the brothers were ejected from the vehicle.  All five were transported to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.  Police say a 16-year-old was driving the car and his brothers, ages 15, 13, 9 and 8, were passengers in the vehicle.  Witnesses say the 16-year-old was driving fast when he lost control about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday.  The southbound […]
