5-28-19 education budget-sadoff, feyen

A local school superintendent says  the Republican K-12 education funding plan is “okay.”   The plan approved  Thursday by the Republican controlled Jt. Finance committee is  $900 million less than what Governor Tony Evers wanted.  North Fond  du Lac School superintendent Aaron Sadoff says regardless of the amount he sees a commitment to public education.  “There’s so much more that goes into the state (budget) than just education.  You’ve got transportation, corrections, Medicaid, health costs,  there’s tons of stuff.  When I look at what Assembly Republicans are proposing, I think it’s actually okay,”  Sadoff told WFDL news.   Republican state senator Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac says he doesn’t see Republican lawmakers making any changes to the dollar amount.  “The governor put out his budget, a $1.4 billion increase, which is pretty unrealistic,”  Feyen said.  Every superintendent that I’ve talked to during this whole process knew this was unrealistic and there was no way that was ever going to happen.”
