MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican legislators have sent the state budget to Democratic Gov. Tony Evers' desk.  Assembly Speaker Robin Vos officially transmitted the budget to Evers on Friday. The governor now has six days, not counting Sunday, to sign the spending plan, veto it or use his partial veto powers to revise it. 7-1-19 wi man says he illegally shipped weapons to australia

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Wisconsin man has pleaded guilty to illegally shipping guns to an Australian weapons dealer using a crate with a secret compartment to fool customs officials.   Andy Huebschmann, of New Holstein, admitted in federal court to sending the Australian dealer pistols, rifles and rifle parts to convert semi-automatic guns into fully automatic weapons.  Huebschmann owns Germantown-based Thureon Defense LLC and is licensed to manufacture and deal guns. 7-1-19 dodge county boy critically injured in atv crash

A nine year old Rio boy received life threatening injuries in an ATV crash in Dodge County.  The crash happened shortly before 9:30pm Saturday on County M/Rhine Rd in the Town of Emmet.   An investigation shows that a 48-year-old Watertown man was operating an ATV with a child passenger when he lost control of the ATV in the intersection causing the ATV to roll and eject both the driver and the passenger.  The […]

Thousands of people gathered in Waupun this weekend for  that community’s  biggest summer tourism  festival.  Celebrate Waupun was held this weekend  at Tanner Park.  Waupun city administrator, Kathy Schlieve,  says in addition to the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile exhibit, there were several other activities.   "HispanoFest started last year  to really kind of celebrate the growing diversity in our community,"  Schlieve told WFDL news.  "...live music, lots of kids activities."

Tony Evers' state budget would have legalized marijuana for both medical and recreational use. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican legislators have cut millions of dollars from Democratic Gov. Tony Evers' budget proposals to reduce water pollution. Democratic Rep. Katrina Shankland released a Legislative Fiscal Bureau report Friday that shows Evers wanted to spend an additional $118 million on grants, bonding authority and positions to combat water pollution.  The report shows Republicans who control the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee reduced that figure to roughly $46 million. 7-1-19 milwaukee man in custody in officer’s death

RACINE, Wis. (AP) — Sheriff's officials have identified the man suspected of fatally shooting a Racine police officer who tried to stop an armed robbery.  The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office said Friday a 26-year-old Milwaukee man is in its jail following his arrest Thursday, a day after Officer John Hetland's funeral.  Authorities say the suspect was arrested in Milwaukee with Hetland's handcuffs.
