The Fond du Lac city council is on board with a concept plan for a new Lakeside Park pavilion. The council got an update on the plan at their meeting Wednesday night. Council president Brian Kolstad says he thinks the building, featuring a stone exterior, and more windows, blends in well with the natural features of the park. “Its what we (council) want. We made some changes to the layout, we got rid of the balcony which wasn’t ADA compliant. We have the opportunity to explore solar (panels) for the building,” Kolstad told WFDL news at the meeting. “We’re going to have a fantastic facility out there.” As part of the plan, the Fond du lac Noon Rotary has agreed to sponsor a Centennial Plaza between the new pavilion and Lake Winnebago. The estimated cost of the latest proposal is $3.2 million. Construction would start in the fall of 2020 and be completed in time for Walleye Weekend 2021.
