More Americans than ever recorded by AAA are making plans to honor the red, white and blue with an Independence Day getaway this year. State AAA spokesman Nick Jaramuscz says nearly 49 million people are expected to travel, an increase of more than four percent over last year. “The real story this year has been the continued strength of the economy and the fact that would be vacationers feel confident enough financially to spend the money needed to take a trip like this,” Jarmuscz told WFDL news. Jarmuscz says be patient when heading out for the holiday. Drivers could face delays as much as four times a normal commute. Jarmuscz says motorists are seeing significantly lower prices at the gas pumps compared to last year.
