Fond du Lac police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an inmate at the Taycheedah Women’s prison. The state Department of Corrections says Fond du Lac police are looking into the level of health care provided to Barbara Jean Krause before she died. The 63 year old Krause died of sepsis April 8, the day after she was taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and about a week after she was transferred to Taycheedah from the Winnebago County Jail. In March, Krause was sentenced to t wo years in prison for second-degree sexual assault of a child. According to the Medical Examiner Krause suffered from numerous health problems, including COPD, diabetes, hypertension and an irregular heartbeat. She had also undergone a kidney transplant in 2013.
