7-3-19 fourth of july travel

Area law enforcement will be out in full force this holiday weekend.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says with heavy traffic expected  its important to plan ahead, be patient, and stay off your cellphone when driving.  “You don’t know when you’ve got such a length of cars, your reaction time is drastically reduced,”  Tadych told WFDL news.  “If you’re not paying attention it often results in a rear-end collision.”    Tadych says you may want to consider an alternate route to get to your destination where there may be less traffic.  Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says leave plenty of distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you.  Schmidt says a good idea is to have about 12 seconds between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
